SECTION 1 (9.00-10.45)
• Objectives and types of pile tests
• Methods of pile bearing capacity estimation by various static formula and pile driving formula. Basis, applications and limitations.
• Planning, execution, presentation and interpretation of static loading tests.
• Case histories of poorly conducted static loading tests

SECTION 2 (11.00-13.00)
• Planning, execution & interpretation of instrumented pile tests with case histories.
• Typical structural integrity problems of bored piles, micro piles and driven concrete piles. Methods of assessment and tests to check these structural integrity problems. Case histories.
• Piling issues: purposes of preliminary and working pile tests, How many piles need to be tested, How to select representative piles for tests, types of pile tests required, etc.
• Piling specification and method statement for loading tests.

SECTION 3 (14.00-15.30)
• Application of stresswave theory to piles. Wave equation analysis.
• Development of high-strain dynamic test (PDA), applications and limitations
• How to conduct PDA tests according to ASTM requirements.
• Case histories of PDA tests illustrating how to procure proper signals, how to interprete the results with respect to static pile capacity-settlement characteristics, maximum driving stress, hammer eficiency and structural integrity conditions (locations and extent of structural damages).

Biodata : Ir. Neoh has been a Vice Chairman of IEM (2004-2006), Chairman of Technical Committee on Geotechnics (TC5)of Road Association of Malaysia (1997-2006) and Chairman of IEM Geotechnical Technical Division (1996-1998),etc.

He joined JKR Malaysia for 25 years after graduated from UM in 1974. He joined IKRAM Runding Sdn Bhd as Director from 1999 to 2000. Since 2001, he is the Director of E-GEO Consultant Sdn Bhd.

He has published more than 50 technical papers about geotechnical and road engineering in various local & international conferences/seminars/journal.

He is a registered BEM Accredited Independent Checker (Geotechnical).

Research officer to conduct research in piling and dwelled into the complexities of dynamic pile testing (PDA) in determining the pile bearing capacities.
Current job : Conducted various trainings, talks and seminars regarding dynamic pile analysis (PDA/PIT/CSL & etc.) and pile design in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and China.
Biodata : Mr. Wai graduated from UTM with an honors degree in Civil Engineering. He remained in UTM as a research officer to conduct research in piling and dwelled into the complexities of dynamic pile testing (PDA) in determining the pile bearing capacities. After more than eight years in R&D, he decided, together with Mr. Nuri, to set up Traswaja Group of Companies in 1997 and assumed the post of chief technical officer himself.

The remarkable breakthrough in R&D was recognized in year 2000 and 2002 with two (2) Patents granted by US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and Malaysian Patent Office (MYIPO). In August 2004, Mr. Wai became a Certified PDA Engineer (Advanced Level) accredited by Deep Foundations Institute (DFI), USA and Foundation QA (FQA), Australia.

In April 2006, Mr. Wai published the first "Piling Handbook for Design and Construction of Driven Pile Foundations" in Malaysia. Since 2000, Mr. Wai conducted various trainings, talks and seminars regarding dynamic pile analysis (PDA/PIT/CSL & etc.) and pile design in Malaysia, Brunei, Indonesia and China.
