Biodata : Ir. Neoh has been a Vice Chairman of IEM (2004-2006), Chairman of Technical Committee on Geotechnics (TC5)of Road Association of Malaysia (1997-2006) and Chairman of IEM Geotechnical Technical Division (1996-1998),etc.

He joined JKR Malaysia for 25 years after graduated from UM in 1974. He joined IKRAM Runding Sdn Bhd as Director from 1999 to 2000. Since 2001, he is the Director of E-GEO Consultant Sdn Bhd.

He has published more than 50 technical papers about geotechnical and road engineering in various local & international conferences/seminars/journal.

He is a registered BEM Accredited Independent Checker (Geotechnical).

SECTION 1:
Overview of pile foundation design practice: pile classification, code of practice, design principles/models, common pile types plus their application & limitations, pile behavior & response to loading in clay/sand/rock. Pile selection chart.
Practical displacement pile design: scope of SI, ground characterization & parameter selection, how to check handling/installation/working stresses for concrete piles (precast RC & spun piles) installed by jacking & hammering & compare with the corresponding permissible limits. How to estimate safe working capacity (geotechnical & structural loads) for a given subsoil & installation method, etc.

SECTION 2:
Scope & methods of design verifications/analysis/calculations to meet EuroCode 7 requirements. How to control & detect pile damages installed by impact hammer & jacking? How to estimate driving stress (compressive, tensile & bending) caused by impact hammer and hydraulic jacking and how to estimate permissible driving stresses will be illustrated by examples & case histories.
Scope & methods of design validation to verify pile capacity and structural integrity installed by impact hammers and jacking methods.
Minimum structural requirements & design of pile body, pile joint & pile shoe for RC & spun piles for various installation methods & subsoil conditions, etc

SECTION 3:
Works specification for RC piles & spun piles with particular reference to requirements for materials, workmanship, dimension tolerances, construction controls, inspection & recording, etc., to meet MS 1314 requirements.
Five case histories to illustrate how to design RC piles & spun piles by driving & jacking for low-rise & high-rise buildings in various typical subsoil conditions with particular reference to how to select type & size of piles based on site/subsoil conditions & loading ranges, check driving stress, design verifications/analysis & design validation scheme, etc.
