Introduction
SECTION 1
• Purpose and importance of SI Role in geotechnical design. SI standards and guides. SI methods; applications and limitations. Common malpractice at site and misleading or doubtful SI results

SECTION 2
• Planning scope of SI for civil engineering projects; guidelines and basis, criteria of terminating borehole depth selection and basis of field tests/sampling plus planning scheme of lab tests.etc. Types of field and lab tests, their usual frequency of testing, applications and limitations for the required soil properties used in analysis/design.

SECTION 3
• Interpretation of SI results; borelog record details and presentation, field and lab test result interpretations and correlations Significance and sensitivity of test results/soil properties and soil or ground behaviour/performance predictions. Types and importance of groundwater. How to measure and interprete correctly. How to determine WT subsoil profiles and select shear strengths for slope stability analysis and ground deformation analysis, etc.

SECTION 4
• Case histories for planning scope of SI plus interpretative report for high-rise condo project, road project in hilly terrains and slope failure investigation project will be illustrated in details from desk studies to generalised subsoil. Commonly asked questions about SI will be discussed and answered.

Biodata : Ir. Neoh has been a Vice Chairman of IEM (2004-2006), Chairman of Technical Committee on Geotechnics (TC5)of Road Association of Malaysia (1997-2006) and Chairman of IEM Geotechnical Technical Division (1996-1998),etc.

He joined JKR Malaysia for 25 years after graduated from UM in 1974. He joined IKRAM Runding Sdn Bhd as Director from 1999 to 2000. Since 2001, he is the Director of E-GEO Consultant Sdn Bhd.

He has published more than 50 technical papers about geotechnical and road engineering in various local & international conferences/seminars/journal.

He is a registered BEM Accredited Independent Checker (Geotechnical).
