Biodata : • BSc (Hons. Upper 2nd Class) Geology & MSc (Engineering Geology) from UKM Bangi
• PhD Structural Geology from University of Wales, Aberystwyth UK, 1997.
• Formerly a Geologist at MINCO (1990), a lecturer and then Associate Professor at Geology Department, University of Malaya (1991-June 2006); Assoc. Prof. at Geoscience & Petroleum Engineeing Department Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (July 2006-March 2007); and currently Assoc. Prof. at Geology Programme, Faculty of Scinece & Technology cum Research Fellow of LESTARI, UKM Bangi (since April 2007).
• Members of Geological Society of Malaysia and International Association of Engineering Geologist (IAEG); Chairman of NaTROCK (National Tropical Rock Engineering Research Group) and Core Member of National Geological Heritage Group; Research Fellow of LESTARI (Environmental & Development Institue of UKM).
• Field of specialization & Research Interests: Engineering Geology, Geohazards (landslides, tsunami, earthquake), Rock Slope Stability, Rock Mass Characterisation, Structural Geology & Tectonics, Geoheritage and Geoconservation.
• Have published about 105 papers including journals, proceedings, chapters of books, posters, etc.; published at national and/or international levels; produced more than 70 consultation and technical reports mainly on the engineering geological aspects and geoforensic investigation of slopes, highways, roads, dam and building foundations, rock quarries, railway tracks, rock excavation, and etc.
• 20 years experience in teaching and research in Geology, 12 years experience as Consulting Geologist.
• Editorial Panel for Bulletin Geological Society of Malaysia, Journal Kejuruteraan UTM, Journal of Science and Technology in the Tropics, Academy of Science Malaysia.
