Introduction
SECTION 1 (9.00-10.45)
• Classification of walls. Purposes, applications and limitations.
• Design standards and design criteria. Codes of practice.
• Scope of important stability checks. Effects of water table and methods of assessment. Justification of soil parameters as design input and scope of SI required. Common oversights in stability analysis.

SECTION 2 (11.00-13.00)
• Basic design principles for rigid, flexible and semic-rigid walls. Scope of design checks. Works specification related to workmanship/tolerances & and QC plus acceptance criteria.
• Lateral earth pressure estimation. Basis and design validation.
• Ground/wall movement: factors that shall be considered, methods of predicting movement, mitigations to check and control movement.

SECTION 3 (14.00-15.30)
• Steps by steps case histories of design and construction including site assessment, SI planning to procure the necessary parameters, wall type selection, design parameters selection, scope of design checks, scope of design validation plus QC requirements, construction details/controls, method statement, etc., for flexible geogrid reinforced wall, contagious bored pile wall and RC anchored wall.

SECTION 4 (15.45-17.00)
• Case histories of wall failures. Risk evaluation. Common failure causes and mitigations. Lessons learnt.
• Q and A about wall design and construction .

Biodata : Ir. Neoh has been a Vice Chairman of IEM (2004-2006), Chairman of Technical Committee on Geotechnics (TC5)of Road Association of Malaysia (1997-2006) and Chairman of IEM Geotechnical Technical Division (1996-1998),etc.

He joined JKR Malaysia for 25 years after graduated from UM in 1974. He joined IKRAM Runding Sdn Bhd as Director from 1999 to 2000. Since 2001, he is the Director of E-GEO Consultant Sdn Bhd.

He has published more than 50 technical papers about geotechnical and road engineering in various local & international conferences/seminars/journal.

He is a registered BEM Accredited Independent Checker (Geotechnical).
